About this deal

In the first part of this 'ible I will show you how to do some mods for beginner modders, people who are doing something like this for the first time.

Tip: Before we move on, it's important to understand which parts of the tubing assembly are ok to hit with the drill and which are not. If you shake the plunger tube, you should hear some parts rattling around. The follow picture shows exactly what's inside the plunger tube: (Pic. 3) The air restrictor (AR) slows down the flow of air from the plunger to the dart. This device serves to reduce the blaster's power and prevent the plunger from slamming into the plunger tubing at full speed, drastically reducing the noise generated during firing. Some of the first-generation versions of this blaster have issues with accepting 18-dart, "banana," and drum magazines. This problem stems from the shape of the plastic on the blaster shell, which makes the magazine well and surrounding area too small to fit the protruding portions of some magazine sizes. To fix this, we simply need to cut away a few pieces of plastic from both halves of the shell. Here's how: The Recon CS-6 features a reverse plunger plunger system. Because of this, it is usually disliked in modding communities. The 2008 version of the blaster notably has a shorter plunger tube, due to the 2008 product recall and redesign of the plunger. The Kohls-exclusive Recon CS-6 Special Edition includes a Recon, as well as two additional six dart clip and twelve more Streamline Darts. Step 1: Remove the bolt sled and plunger from the blaster. Unpin the plunger assembly from the bolt sled using a nail, small screwdriver, or punch. You can do this by inserting the nail, screwdriver, or punch into the hole that houses the retention pin and apply pressure. (Pic. 1-2) The O-ring seal on the plunger tubing makes sure that the air compressed by the plunger assembly and spring does not leak out during compression. Some blasters come with an excellent O-ring seal, while others come with undersized or loose O-rings. Improving this seal is an easy mod that can add a few extra feet to your shots. About: Welcome to the F.A.N.G., the world's largest and most advanced tactical Nerf team, and the founder of the GFDC. We are The Bite Force, and we're here to have fun! This account will share all of the F.A.N.G. In… The Recon has had four direct successors: the 2012 N-Strike Elite Retaliator, the 2015 N-Strike Modulus Recon MKII, the 2019 N-Strike Elite Recon CQ-12, and the 2021 N-Strike Modulus Recon MKIII.

If you have made it this far, congratulations! You have successfully modified your Nerf Modulus Recon MKII! You will now be able to enjoy being able to use any magazine you wish, and (provided you completed the AR and dead space modifications as well as a spring replacement), experience an increase in power as well. The pre-recall Recon had an exposed plunger, which had the word "ARMED" written on the side and served as a priming indicator. Note: Some of the plunger tubing pictured below has been cut out of the plunger for demonstration purposes. Do not do this EVER. The front of the original Recon has a small protrusion near the bottom with a five-dot "dice" pattern on each side. This prevented attaching tall barrel extensions, such as the Mega Dart Barrel Extension from the Tri-Strike, to the blaster. The new version has this protrusion removed to give the blaster a flat front. Alpha Trooper CS-18 • Barrel Break IX-2 • Barricade RV-10 • Deploy CS-6 • LongStrike CS-6 • Rapid Fire AS-20 • Spectre REV-5 • Stampede ECSLocate the area of the shell where the magazines are accepted. There are two intersecting planes of plastic that need to be cut down or removed. These areas are marked in picture three. There are a couple of small differences between the original, older blaster that was recalled and the newer, updated blaster that can be used to determine which version is which. Step 2: Remove screws. Be sure to make note of each screw's placement, because sizes differ. It is helpful to place the screws on the table in their original positions relevant to an outline of the blaster. There are a total of 15 screws. (Pic. 2) Familiarize yourself with the internal mechanism of the blaster. A reference photo has been provided in picture eight.

These problems can be fixed with a number of simple modifications*, which we (a Nerf war team) will show you in this guide. These mods include: The Recon MKII was inspired by the N-Strike Retaliator [2], making it a successor of sorts. In part, and perhaps due to its name, it may also be considered a successor to the N-Strike Recon CS-6.Remove the two screws in the top of the priming slide, as in picture five. Do not remove the slide pieces yet. Step 2: Tape around the plunger tubing to seal the holes. If you're using glue, make sure no excess glue drips into the plunger, as this may cause the blaster to not fire properly.

Step 2: Remove the plunger from the plunger tube and gently pry the O-ring out of its groove with a flat head screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the O-ring if you plan on reusing it. (Pic. 2) One can dual wield the Recon by using the tactical rails on the slide to prime each blaster simultaneously. This drastically reduces rate of fire, though. Lastly, the hand guard on the new version is narrower to provide additional space for protrusions from larger clips. This creates a noticeably shorter sloped section at the bottom of the hand guard. A modification or “mod” is anything you do to your blaster that changes its looks, form, or functionality. Doing a custom paint job, adding your own accessories and parts, and working on the internals to increase power are all considered mods. Small flat head screwdriver• O-ring safe lubricant, such as petroleum jelly or silicon based lubricantCosmetic modding, when done right, yields stunning results. A humble foam blaster can become anything from a dystopian “steampunk” gun to a clean cut weapon right out of science fiction. They can even mimic weapons out of video games and movies. A modded blaster can shoot further and with more intensity compared to FOF (fresh out of factory) blasters. It can give you the upper hand in your next battle. Step 2: Use gloves to hold the plunger tube and drill from the end that has the O-ring. It will take considerable pressure to get the bit to catch the plastic. Wearing a glove will prevent you from suffering a burn on your hand, should the bit catch the tubing and start to spin. (Pic. 4)
