David Litwa also includes two translations of it in his Hermetica II (containing plenty of Hermetic texts, excerpts of texts, and testimonia from sources other than the more famous Corpus Hermeticum and Asclepius texts).In 1929, Doreal's astral self would have still been in Tibet studying esoteric knowledge while his physical self was driving a cab in Wichita. The core of the work is primarily an alchemical treatise that introduces for the first time the idea that all metals are formed from sulfur and mercury, a fundamental theory of alchemy in the Middle Ages. Scholars speak of the Emerald Tablet as one of the most mysterious documents ever put before the eyes of man, and describe it as everything from a succinct summary of Neoplatonic philosophy, to an extraterrestrial artifact, to a gift from Atlantis. For this book I have created my own version that considers and incorporates twenty or so existing translations.

This is particularly the case in the late 15th century in the Livre de la philosophie naturelle des métaux by the pseudo- Bernard of Treviso: [30] "The first inventor of this Art was Hermes Trismegistus, for he knew all three natural philosophies, namely Mineral, Vegetable, and Animal. it seems as if Toth did not have other words in mind than dweller , children of men , veil , and the typical jargon used in bad heroic fatntasy movies .Perhaps it is his age as a divine figure that led to a rather confusing mythology with a series of contradicting traditions concerning his descent and his reputation as a benevolent versus atrocious or mistrusted deity.
